Preparing
to Sell Your Home
Before having your home appraised and especially
before potential buyers view your home, you should spruce the place
up a bit to get the most resale value from your home. Most of these
suggestions do not cost much, just a little bit of time. |

Exterior
First impressions are the most important in meeting
new people, they are also the most important when potential home
buyers are "meeting a new home". Here are a few things you can do
to help make the first impresion the best impression.
- The first thing people typically see of your home is your yard.
Keep the grass well trimmed and the area free from any debris
(tree limbs, etc).
- If you have any landscaping, apply a fresh layer or mulch, trim
any shrubbery.
- Paint or wash the exterior of your house.
- Clean inside and outside of all windows.
- Also have the gutters and chimney cleaned.
Interior
The interior of your home may be where the potential
buyer(s) will be residing for the rest of their lives. It’s
easy to let a few things go with so much going on in our daily lives.
Before potential home buyers visit your home, it’s time to
catch up on a few things you’ve been meaning to do.
- Painting or washing the interior walls.
- Wash and/or shampoo all flooring and replacing broken tile if
necessary.
- Clean out garages/closets/etc where clutter tends to build up.
Perhaps even have a garage sale or use some temporary self
storage.
- Fix any faucets that may be leaking.
- Also remove any residual odors such as mildew from perhaps a
garage, as well as pet and cigarette odors.
